"As coordinated by the parties to the agreement and the mediators, the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip will begin at 8:30 am on Sunday, January 19, local time in Gaza," Qatar's foreign ministry spokesman Majed al-Ansari said on X.

The spokesman also urged Gaza residents to exercise "utmost caution" and await official directions from authorities.

Mediators Egypt, Qatar and the United States had announced the ceasefire on Wednesday, but the deal was in limbo for more than a day as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu alleged there were last-minute complications in the agreement.

On Saturday, the Israeli government announced the approval after 1 a.m. Tel Aviv time and confirmed the ceasefire will go into effect on Sunday. The full cabinet approval follows the approval of the security cabinet on Friday.
