The president of the Egyptian Medical Syndicate, Dr. Osama Abdel-Hay, said he received a phone call from Palestinian Health Minister Dr. Majed Ramadan on Friday, during which he was briefed on the dire state of the health sector in Gaza.
According to Abdel-Hay, the Palestinian minister informed him that the syndicate would receive a list of urgently needed medical specialities. The syndicate, he said, will prepare the necessary medical teams to meet Gaza's healthcare needs in coordination with the Egyptian Red Crescent and the Egyptian government.
In addition, Abdel-Hay noted that over 2,000 doctors were willing to enter Gaza as volunteers to treat the injured, stressing that Gaza desperately needs doctors in all medical specialities, most importantly anesthesiology, surgery, orthopaedics, and plastic surgery.
The Egyptian Medical Syndicate shared the link to the online form registration on its official Facebook page.
According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), as of early December 2024, only 17 out of 36 hospitals in Gaza remained partially operational, while the remaining 19 were closed.
Additionally, over 1,000 healthcare workers had been killed as a result of the Israeli military's constant bombardment of hospitals and deliberate targeting of medical personnel.
