The German club Frankfurt excluded Marmoush from their matchday squad for Friday's home clash with Borussia Dortmund due to ongoing transfer negotiations. The Pharaohs player waved goodbye to Eintracht's fans after the game.
A week earlier, Sky Sport (Germany) revealed that the Premier League champions City has agreed on personal terms with the in-form forward. Still, it confirmed that negotiations between both clubs over the transfer fee remain ongoing.
The 25-year old in-form Egyptian international attracted the attention of Pep Guardiola to save their campaign as they want to bolster their attack during the current winter transfer window.
It is believed that City have already offered around £59m plus bonus payments to sign the player amid reports that Eintracht is asking for a fee in the region of £67m.
City have struggled in attack this season, with only Erling Haaland shining from all the forwards; scoring 17 goals in the Premier League since the season start.
After 22 games, the Citizens are fifth in the Premier League table, trailing leaders Liverpool by 12 points. Liverpool still have one game in hand.
Marmoush's arrival would provide much-needed depth and creativity in the final third as Guardiola's side aims to revive their domestic title challenge.
