The Egyptian star achieved the feat during Liverpool's 2-1 victory over Lille in the Champions League on Tuesday night at Anfield.

Salah scored in the 34th minute, capitalizing on a precise through ball from Curtis Jones. It marked his 45th goal in Europe's premier competition, with the remaining five coming during Liverpool's Europa League campaign last season.

This achievement extends Salah's lead as the club's all-time top scorer in European competitions, surpassing Steven Gerrard's previous record by nine goals.

"Hopefully [I'm] not the last one, but it's something I'm very happy and proud of, especially because we won the game. That's the most important thing," Salah told Amazon Prime Video after the match.

Salah's stellar form continues

Salah's opener against Lille was his third Champions League goal this season and his 22nd in all competitions. The 32-year-old, who has registered 39 goal contributions in 31 games this campaign, remains vital to Liverpool's success under Slot. With seven consecutive European wins, the Reds sit atop their group and have secured their place in the last 16.

Despite ongoing speculation about Saudi clubs' interest in the Egyptian star, Salah remained focused on the present, jokingly dismissing the idea of scoring another 50 European goals for Liverpool. "I'm not sure about that, but I'll give it my best!" he said.

Slot praises 'Special' Salah

Liverpool manager Arne Slot praised Salah and the team's overall performance after the match. "Special is the word to describe Mo's performance at this club; he's been outstanding for so many years, and still he does it," Slot said.

For Salah, the milestone is another chapter in an illustrious career at Anfield, solidifying his legacy as one of Liverpool's greatest-ever players.
