Both ministers' remarks came during a phone call, which is part of Cairo's ongoing communication with the new US administration following President Donald Trump's recent inauguration, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
Egypt-US relations
During the call, the Egyptian FM congratulated his American counterpart on assuming his new position, affirming that the US Senate's overwhelming approval of his nomination reflects confidence in his ability to manage US foreign policy.
Abdelatty expressed his aspiration to work closely with Rubio and the new US administration to strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries, which has lasted over four decades.
He further emphasized the importance of advancing bilateral relations across political, military, economic, and developmental fields to achieve mutual Egyptian-American interests.
The Egyptian FM also highlighted the importance of encouraging US companies to invest in Egypt, especially in promising sectors, expressing Egypt's aspiration to hold an economic forum this year with the participation of major US companies.
He highlighted the Egyptian government's measures and steps to support the private sector and improve the country's business environment.
During the call, both ministers discussed ways to enhance cooperation, including maintaining the regular strategic dialogue between both countries.
For his part, Rubio praised the Egyptian-American strategic partnership, emphasizing that the new US administration is keen on advancing bilateral cooperation with Egypt in various fields in the coming period.

Middle East crises
During the call, both sides addressed the latest regional developments, including the situation in Gaza, Syria, Lebanon, Sudan, Libya, the Horn of Africa, and the Red Sea and the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) issue and Egypt's water security.
Abdelatty stressed the importance of ongoing coordination between Egypt, Qatar, and the US to ensure the full implementation of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, emphasizing the need for all parties to respect the agreement's terms and adhere to its timelines.
He also underscored the importance of reaching a final settlement to the Palestinian cause that leads to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the two-state solution in a way that avoids aggression between the Palestinian and Israeli sides.
According to the US Department of State's spokesperson Tammy Bruce, both sides stressed the need to prevent Syria from being used as a base for terrorism or from posing a threat to its neighbours.
Addressing the Sudanese crisis, Abdelatty and Rubio affirmed the need to press the belligerents to end hostilities and expand humanitarian access, Bruce noted
They also discussed Egypt’s existential need for water security and the importance of advancing a diplomatic solution on the Nile River in the interest of all parties.
For his part, the US Secretary of State highlighted Egypt’s pivotal role in the Middle East, commending Cairo's mediation efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement in Gaza and facilitate the exchange of prisoners and detainees.
According to Bruce, Rubio praised Egypt’s efforts to sustain humanitarian aid deliveries throughout Gaza, reiterating the importance of close cooperation to advance post-conflict planning for its governance and security.
