Cairo giants Ahly have reinforced their squad with two key acquisitions, securing defender Mostafa El-Esh and striker Nejc Gradisar during the current transfer window, the club confirmed on their official TV channel on Friday.

Nejc Gradisar
Slovenian striker Nejc Gradisar has joined Ahly on a four-and-a-half-year deal.

The Red Devils have signed El-Esh on a loan deal from ZED FC until the end of the season, while Slovenian forward Gradisar joins on a four-and-a-half-year contract from Hungarian side Fehervar FC.

The 24-year-old El-Esh brings versatility to Ahly’s defense, capable of playing both as a center-back and a left-back.

He has made nine league appearances for ZED FC this season, including a recent match against Pyramids FC.

With 96 Egyptian Premier League appearances to his name, representing Ghazl El-Mahalla and ZED FC, El-Esh has also scored one goal, netting against Masry during the 2022-23 campaign.

He could make his Ahly debut in their upcoming league clash against Pyramids FC on Sunday.

Meanwhile, 22-year-old Gradisar has been a standout performer in the Hungarian league since February 2024, primarily operating as a central forward.

This season, he has featured in 22 matches, scoring eight goals and providing four assists, making him the league’s second-highest scorer with seven goals.

The Slovenian international earned his first cap in a friendly against the USA in January 2024, marking the occasion with a goal.

These strategic signings are expected to bolster Ahly’s squad as they aim for domestic and continental glory in the ongoing season.
