“The Palestinian people will not abandon their land or holy sites, and we will not allow another catastrophe to befall our nation,” the presidency said in a statement.
The statement thanked Egypt and Jordan for their firm opposition to the forced displacement of Palestinians, as well as other allied nations for supporting their stance.
It added that any attempts to alter the territorial unity of Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem or to undermine Palestinian and international constants would be firmly rejected.
On Saturday evening, US President Donald Trump said he had told Jordan's King Abdullah II: "I'd love you to take on more because I'm looking at the whole Gaza Strip right now, and it's a mess, it's a real mess."
He said he planned to present the same proposal to the Egyptian president on Sunday.
"You're talking about probably a million and a half people, and we just clean out that whole thing," Trump added.
The Palestinian presidency also urged Trump to continue efforts to stabilize the ceasefire in Gaza and ensure the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces, allowing the Palestinian Authority to assume its responsibilities in the strip.
Palestinian officials called for immediate focus on sustaining the ceasefire, delivering humanitarian aid, and ensuring displaced families can return home.
They emphasized the need for electricity, water, and repairs to schools and hospitals to pave the way for reconstruction.
“Palestine is ready to fully assume its duties in Gaza and continue efforts to achieve a just peace based on the two-state solution, in line with international resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative,” the statement said.
The Palestinian presidency also warned that any Israeli policy fragmenting Gaza or forcing its residents to flee would destabilize the region and undermine Palestinian sovereignty, as well as the sovereignty of neighbouring Arab states.
In tandem, President Mahmoud Abbas addressed the potential implications of such policies domestically and on regional security in urgent talks with Arab, European, and US leaders.
The Palestinian leadership reiterated that the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) remains the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people, vowing to safeguard their national identity and political aspirations.
