Ten Egyptian professional syndicates agreed Tuesday to send a delegation to the Rafah border crossing to express solidarity with the Palestinian people, condemning US President Donald Trump’s recent remarks on the forcible displacement of Palestinians and liquidating their cause.

The announcement came during a joint press conference for Cairo syndicates.

They also agreed to send a letter to the US embassy in Cairo, the United Nations, the European Commission, and other international organizations, condemning Trump’s remarks and reiterating the call for a fair and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian cause.

The press conference was attended by syndicates of journalists, lawyers, engineers, medical professionals, actors, cinema professionals, farmers, commerce professionals, veterinarians, and dentists.

On Saturday, Trump said he would like to see Egypt, Jordan, and other Arab nations increase the number of Palestinian refugees they are accepting from Gaza.

Journalists Syndicate Head Khaled El-Balshy announced plans to open donation channels to support the Palestinian people and help rebuild Gaza.

Right of return

Moreover, the professional syndicates called on Egyptian newspapers, websites, and TV channels to display permanent banners on their platforms with the slogans "Yes to Reconstruction," "No to Displacement," "Right of Return," and "Free Palestine."

Starting Thursday, Palestinian flags and banners rejecting displacement and demanding the right of return will be displayed at the headquarters of Egyptian syndicates and on their websites and social media platforms.

The syndicates are also planning a joint legal initiative, led by the Lawyers Syndicate and the Federation of Arab Journalists, calling for the prosecution of war criminals and those involved in acts of genocide.

According to El-Balshy, each syndicate will individually contribute to supporting Palestinians. The Medical Syndicate plans to send medical professionals to treat Palestinian patients, while the Engineers Syndicate will offer technical support for rebuilding Gaza.

The Journalists Syndicate will undertake initiatives to support Palestinian journalists in Cairo and assist them wherever possible.

They will also host a screening of the Palestinian film Zero Distance, which documents Israeli assaults on Gaza.

Egypt’s red lines

The Egyptian National Council for Women (NCW) has voiced strong support for the country's measures to safeguard Egyptian and Arab national security against any plans aimed at forcibly relocating the Palestinians from Gaza to Sinai.

In a statement, the NCW emphasized that such plans would lead to the liquidation of the Palestinian cause, stressing that "Egypt's national security and Sinai are non-negotiable red lines.”

The council further expressed deep support, respect, and appreciation for Palestinian women's resilience, immense contributions, and sacrifices.

It affirmed that such displacement plans violate all international treaties, norms, and human values and are considered war crimes, ethnic cleansing, and collective punishment against the Palestinian people.

Trump's remarks have sparked wide condemnation. Numerous countries and organizations have expressed their rejection and concerns regarding the consequences of the potential displacement of Palestinians.

On Sunday, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed Cairo's categorical rejection of the displacement of Palestinians from their land, be it in the "short term" or "long term."
