Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty has urged respect for the Palestinian people’s steadfastness and their right to self-determination.

Abdelatty made his remarks during a phone call with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Tuesday evening.

Abdelatty “stressed the importance of not infringing on the rights of the Palestinian people,” read a statement released by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Palestinian people “are keen to remain on their land and reject transfer or displacement outside it,” the statement noted.

Both sides reviewed the latest developments regarding the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, with Abdelatty emphasizing the crucial need for all parties involved to uphold the agreement's terms in its three stages.

He noted that successful implementation would facilitate the exchange of captives and prisoners, enable the return of Palestinian citizens to their homes, and ensure sustained humanitarian access to the strip.

Egypt’s top diplomat asserted that these actions “are vital for restoring calm and stability while paving the way for a political resolution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict based on the two-state solution,” read the statement.

In a controversial statement on Saturday, US President Donald Trump proposed relocating Palestinians from Gaza, a suggestion that has found no support among the international community.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump said he had told Jordan's King Abdullah II: "I'd love you to take on more because I'm looking at the whole Gaza Strip right now, and it's a mess, it's a real mess."

"You're talking about probably a million and a half people, and we just clean out that whole thing," he stated.

According to the statement, during Tuesday’s call, Abdelatty and Rubio stressed the strong strategic partnership between Egypt and the US and their mutual commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation across various sectors.
