Gotthardt met with key Egyptian officials, including Randa El-Menshawy, the first assistant to the Prime Minister and Head of the Technical Secretariat of the National Green Hydrogen Council, and Walid Gamal El-Din, chairman of the Suez Canal Economic Zone.

These meetings aimed to bolster economic ties and advance renewable energy initiatives.

A significant highlight of the visit was signing the "Work Plan of the Egyptian-Bavarian Hydrogen Working Group."

This agreement aims to facilitate collaborative research, technological exchange, and investment opportunities within the hydrogen sector.

The working group was established in October 2024 during Bavarian Minister-President Markus Söder's historic visit to Egypt.

“It is a match! The joint work plan between Bavaria and Egypt is a crucial step towards advancing hydrogen as a key technology of the future,” stated Gotthardt.

“With Bavaria's expertise in research and technology, we can support Egypt in developing modern hydrogen infrastructures. Meanwhile, Egypt's considerable potential for green hydrogen presents new opportunities for our economy — whether in imports or joint projects. Hydrogen connects us as a driver of innovation and a catalyst for the future of Bavaria and Egypt,” he added.

German Ambassador to Egypt Jürgen Schulz highlighted the visit’s significance.

“This trip reflects Germany's strong commitment to enhancing partnerships with Egypt. Hydrogen has the potential to not only transform our energy landscape but also drive economic growth in both nations. We are eager to initiate this collaboration and look forward to the mutual benefits it will yield,” he said.

The German-Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK), the official representative of the Bavarian industry in Egypt, organized the delegation's activities.

Bavarian businesses aim to share their expertise while gaining insights from Egypt's advancements in hydrogen production.

This collaboration represents a pivotal moment in the evolving relationship between Bavaria and Egypt. Both nations seek to leverage their strengths in renewable energy to foster economic growth and innovation.
