The Military Operations Administration that ruled Syria after the ouster of President Bashar Al-Assad in December installed Ahmed Al-Sharaa as Syria's president in the transitional phase on Wednesday, reported DPA.

Various factions in the Military Operations Administration and other Syrian opposition groups met at the People's Palace in Damascus to discuss issues related to the country's future.

A military commander who participated in the conference told the DPA on condition of anonymity that "Ahmed Al-Sharaa was installed as president of the country, the constitution of 2012 was suspended, and the People's Assembly was dissolved."

In December, shortly after his Islamist group Hayat Tahrir Al-Sham ousted Bashar Al-Assad, Al-Sharaa said Syria needs a period of three to four years to hold elections and write a constitution for the country.
