Ten Egyptian professional syndicates – representing more than five million Egyptian citizens – have voiced condemnation of US President Donald Trump's recent proposal to displace the Palestinians from Gaza in a letter sent to the US Embassy in Cairo.

In the letter, written in both Arabic and English, the syndicates called on Trump to retract his remarks, describing them as a blatant assault on the sovereignty of the entire Arab nations and a violation of international law.

The signatories included the syndicates of journalists, lawyers, engineers, medical professionals, actors, cinema professionals, applied arts designers, commerce professionals, veterinarians, and dentists.

The Egyptian syndicates expressed their unwavering support for Palestinian rights, stressing that any attempt to displace the Palestinians constitutes a crime against humanity, according to a statement released by the Journalists' Syndicate.

The letter asserted that any endorsement of Trump’s proposal would not only represent a complete disregard for the Palestinian people's right to self-determination but would also be tantamount to supporting ethnic cleansing.

Furthermore, the syndicates reaffirmed their support for the Egyptian government's stance that rejects any plan that undermines Palestinian sovereignty and the legitimate right of Palestinians to establish an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Additionally, they emphasised that they would not stand idly by in the face of any policies that aim to liquidate the Palestinian cause under the guise of "solutions" that merely prolong injustice and suffering.

“Egypt would not be complicit in any plot designed to erase Palestinian identity, history, or rights, and would not participate in the oppression of the heroic Palestinian people,” read the statement.

The letter echoed recent statements by Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi on the proposal, in which he said Egypt cannot participate in displacing the Palestinian people, describing the matter as an “act of injustice.”

Last week, President Trump made incendiary proposals on "relocating" and "cleaning out" Palestinians from Gaza to Egypt, Jordan and other Arab nations.

Egypt and Jordan have rejected his proposal.

On Saturday, an Arab ministerial meeting in Cairo reiterated rejection of US President Donald Trump's proposal to displace Palestinians from the war-devastated Gaza Strip, expressing a desire to work with the new US administration to solve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict based on the two-state solution.
