Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that Russia believes a resolution to the Middle East conflict is only achievable through a two-state framework.

“This principle is enshrined in the relevant UN Security Council resolutions, and it is a position shared by the overwhelming majority of countries involved in this issue. We adhere to it, support it, and believe it is the only viable option,” Peskov told reporters.

Russia has joined a growing number of major powers opposing former US President Donald Trump’s plan to relocate Palestinians and transform Gaza into what he called “the Riviera of the Middle East.”

Trump made the remarks in a joint news conference in Washington with visiting Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

"The US will take over the Gaza Strip, and we will do a job with it too," he said. "We're going to develop it, create thousands and thousands of jobs, and it'll be something that the entire Middle East can be very proud of."

Trump gave no details on how the US would carry out the resettlement plan.

Peskov also noted that Trump’s resettlement proposal has been firmly rejected by major Arab capitals.
