According to the Egyptian Cabinet, the Egyptian PM highlighted Cairo's ongoing efforts to ensure the full implementation of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza war, including the exchange of prisoners and detainees, as well as the entry of humanitarian aid into the Strip.
He also stressed Egypt’s commitment to continuous coordination with Arab countries and other nations worldwide to address various challenges to ensure the completion of the ceasefire deal.
Madbouly's remarks came hours after US President Trump announced a shocking colonialist plan for the US to “take over” the Gaza Strip and permanently displace its native Palestinian population, drawing immediate regional and international condemnation.
Trump disclosed his plan days after proposing “relocating” and “cleaning out” more than two million Palestinians from Gaza to Egypt, Jordan, and other Arab and Muslim countries, also drawing Arab and international condemnation.
Egypt, Jordan, Palestinians, and Arab countries rejected all of Trump's proposals to displace the Palestinian people from their homeland, reaffirming that the establishment of a Palestinian state on 4 June 1967 border under a two-state solution is the only just solution to the Palestinian cause.
On Wednesday, Egypt's National Council for Human Rights (NCHR) has called on the UN Security Council (UNSC) to adopt a resolution classifying recent proposals by President Donald Trump for the US seize Gaza and transfer the native Palestinian populatin as a threat to international peace and security.
Healthcare to Gaza!
During the meeting, Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar highlighted the state's efforts to provide healthcare support to wounded and ill Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
According to Abdel-Ghaffar, Egypt has received 103,400 Palestinian patients, including 12,300 children, since Israeli began its war on Gaza in October 2023.
He affirmed that the state has provided necessary medical care to these Palestinians, including the provision of 16,300 vaccine doses to protect against polio, measles, rubella, and mumps.
Additionally, Abdel-Ghaffar highlighted the readiness of 164 hospitals to provide medical support, equipped with necessary resources, alongside 150 ambulances.
The Egyptian health minister also noted the availability of trained medical personnel, including 35,000 doctors and 39,000 nursing staff, ready to deliver medical care to Palestinians.
Egypt has received hundreds of injured Palestinians from Gaza since the ceasefire deal went into effect on 19 January.
Egypt also sent hundreds of trucks carrying food, water, and medicine to Gaza to alleviate the near-starvation conditions suffered by 2.4 million Palestinians following months of Israeli blockade on the strip.
