Romania will introduce its rich culture, literature, and traditions to Egyptian readers and art enthusiasts during the book fair.

Diana Baciuna, Romania’s vice minister for culture, expressed her excitement about the upcoming fair during her visit to the event, where she engaged in discussions with Egyptian officials to initiate preparations for 2026.

It is worth noting that Romania participated in the 56th edition after three decades of absence. During the event, Romania’s Writers Union President Varujan Vosganian met his Egyptian counterpart, Alaa Abdel-Hadi, to explore new ideas for literary projects and lay the foundation for future collaborations.

Ambassador of Romania to Egypt Olivia Toderean emphasized the importance of the roundtable discussion held on 30 January at the Cairo International Book Fair. The discussion focused on Romania's historical relationship with Egypt over the last 2,000 years.

This dialogue highlighted opportunities for revitalizing cultural connections and fostering mutual understanding.

The Romanian booth at the book fair welcomed a diverse audience, reflecting the broad interest in Romanian culture. Ambassador Toderean and her team celebrated by engaging with visitors and fostering friendships and connections that transcend borders.

Toderean also expressed gratitude to Egyptian Minister of Culture Ahmed Hanno and President of the Book Organization Ahmed Bahy Eldin Alassasy for their support in this ambitious bilateral project.

As a concluding gesture for the 2025 edition, the Romanian embassy will donate books, albums, and art magazines to the Capital Library at the New Administrative Capital.

"This donation symbolizes the belief that culture and literature are vital bridges between nations, serving as sources of hope and inspiration for future generations of authors and artists," asserted Toderean.
