Upon the directives of President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, a statement by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs revealed that Abdelatty, along with several Arab counterparts, emphasized their collective rejection of any attempts to relocate Palestinians to other countries outside their homeland.
The ministers reaffirmed "the steadiness of the Arab position on the Palestinian issue, which rejects any measures aimed at displacing the Palestinian people from their land, or encouraging their transfer to other countries outside the Palestinian territories." Such ideas "constitute a flagrant violation of international law, infringe upon Palestinian rights, threaten regional security and stability, and undermine prospects for peace and coexistence, they added.
The calls focused on coordinating Arab positions and addressing the dire situation in the Gaza Strip and West Bank.
The foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Jordan, Iraq, Algeria, Tunisia, Mauritania, and Sudan discussed the issue.
Arab steadfast consensus
According to the Egyptian foreign ministry, the talks reflected a shared Arab commitment to pursuing a just and lasting political resolution to the Palestinian cause.
The Arab top diplomats stressed that the only viable path forward is the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on 4 June 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
During the calls, the Egyptian FM outlined Cairo's efforts to sustain the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, ensure the full implementation of its three-phase timeline, and accelerate the delivery of humanitarian aid.
Abdelatty highlighted Egypt’s commitment to reconstruction efforts, early recovery projects, and debris removal in Gaza, emphasizing that these measures must proceed without the displacement of Palestinians from the strip.
The ministers agreed to intensify their diplomatic discussions in the coming period and to continue close coordination and consultations with their other Arab counterparts.
Cairo potential summit
According to media reports, consultations are underway to hold an Arab summit in Cairo to address regional challenges and reject Palestinians' displacement plans.
On Thursday, Israel said it had begun preparations for the departure of large numbers of Palestinians from Gaza in line with US President Donald Trump’s plan for the territory.
Cairo reaffirmed its categorical rejection of any proposal or plan to liquidate the Palestinian cause and has been reportedly lobbying against such measures.
