In an official statement, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs praised this significant step, emphasizing its potential to contribute to Lebanon’s security and stability while restoring its rightful regional standing.
“Egypt looks forward to the new cabinet securing the confidence of the Lebanese Parliament.”
The statement further highlighted that the formation of the new Lebanese government marks an important step toward launching a new phase that fulfils the aspirations of the Lebanese people while preserving Lebanon’s sovereignty, unity, security, and stability.
Egypt reaffirmed its commitment to continuing all forms of support for Lebanon to help achieve security, stability, and prosperity.
On Saturday, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun signed a decree accepting the resignation of Najib Mikati’s government and another decree appointing Nawaf Salam to form a new government.
Aoun and Salam jointly signed the decree establishing a 24-member cabinet. Salam assembled his government after receiving a mandate from 85 Lebanese parliamentarians on 13 January .
