Moreover, Minister Abdelatty stressed the need to start the early recovery process, remove the rubble, and rebuild the Gaza Strip within a specific timeframe without the Palestinians leaving their land, a Ministry of Foreign Affairs statement read.
Abdelatty’s remarks followed US President Donald Trump's repeated statements suggesting that Washington would "take over" Gaza and displace Palestinians into Jordan, Egypt, and other Arab countries, turning the territory into "the Riviera of the Middle East."
Trump’s proposals were met with widespread condemnation and rejection from Arab nations, including Egypt, Jordan, the Palestinians, and several Western countries.
During the meeting, Egypt’s top diplomat also called for establishing a political framework for the Palestinian cause that would lead to an independent Palestinian state and ensure the Palestinians’ right to self-determination, according to the statement.
Furthermore, Abdelatty highlighted Egypt's efforts and commitment to implement the three-stage Gaza ceasefire agreement and ensure its sustainability.
He added that Egypt has also intensified and accelerated humanitarian aid delivery to Gaza.
Additionally, both sides discussed the need to bolster the strategic partnership between Egypt and the US.
FM Abdelatty also reviewed Egypt’s efforts to enhance security and stability in the Middle East. “The Egyptian-American partnership and joint cooperation constitute essential pillars for supporting these efforts,” he stated.
As part of his visit to Washington, which began on Sunday, Abdelatty is scheduled to meet senior officials in the new US administration and members of Congress.
