Following a heavy 3-0 loss to Pyramids FC last week, the Cairo giants quickly restored the balance with a gritty 2-0 win over Ismaily on Friday, keeping the three-horse title race alive.

The result kept third-placed Zamalek within striking distance of the top, trailing defending champions Ahly by three points and leaders Pyramids FC by four.

Winning on Tuesday is crucial for Zamalek to ease the pressure following some shaky performances and lack of reinforcement during the winter transfer window.

Swiss manager Christian Gross will be be short of options against Pharco, with key players including Abdallah El-Said, Mahmoud “El-Wensh” Hamdi, Hamza Mathlouthi Omar Gaber and Nasser Mansi sidelined due to injuries and suspensions.

As he did against Ismaily, the veteran coach is expected to depend again on recent signings Ahmed Hossam and Mahmoud Gehad in his starting eleven.

Meanwhile, Pharco FC, who won their last two games, hope to continue their run and climb up in the table.

Pharco lie in the seventh place at the league table after 12 matches with 18 points, and aim to finish in the top to compete in the playoff round.
