"I stressed that my foremost commitment is to Jordan, its stability, and the well-being of Jordanians," Abdullah said on social media after talks at the White House.
In a statement following the meeting, the king said he held "constructive talks" with Trump, emphasizing the strong partnership between the two nations and its critical role in promoting stability, peace, and security in the Middle East.
"I made it clear to President Trump that Jordan’s interests, stability, and the protection of Jordan and its people are my top priorities," Abdullah said.
The king reaffirmed Jordan’s firm opposition to the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza and the West Bank, calling it a unified Arab position. "The priority must be the reconstruction of Gaza without displacing its people," he said.
Addressing the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Abdullah called for urgent international action. "A just peace, based on the two-state solution, remains the only viable path to stability in the region," he said.
He also commended Trump’s role in brokering a ceasefire in Gaza. "President Trump played a pivotal role in halting the violence in Gaza. We look forward to continued US efforts, alongside other stakeholders, to reinforce the agreement," he added.
Abdullah warned that escalating tensions in the West Bank could have far-reaching consequences, urging all parties to de-escalate.
"Jordan will continue working with its partners to achieve a just and comprehensive peace that benefits all people in the region," he said.
