According to Al-Qahera News TV channel, the source explained that communications are ongoing with all parties involved amid increasing pressure from the US and Israel to resume military operations unless hostages are handed over by Saturday.
He further noted that Egyptian and Qatari mediations aim to find a solution that ensures a balanced implementation of the ceasefire agreement while maintaining calm to avoid a new escalation that would result in further losses.
The source also stated that Cairo and Doha are urging all parties to adhere to the terms of the agreement despite the political and field complexities that make the task more challenging.
Additionally, the Egyptian source emphasized that the continuation of the ceasefire is in the best interest of all parties and warned of serious regional consequences if the agreement breaks.
On Monday, US President Donald Trump warned that "all hell will break out” if every Israeli captive is not released from Gaza by Saturday noon.
Trump’s warning came in response to Hamas’ threats to postpone exchanges of captives under a fragile ceasefire deal it said Israel was violating.
On Tuesday, Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said that the dozens of captives would only be returned if all parties remained committed to the Gaza ceasefire agreement.
On Wednesday, a delegation headed by Hamas chief Khalil al-Hayya arrived in Cairo to meet with Egyptian officials to discuss the Gaza ceasefire implementation, the group said in a statement.
