In a statement on Wednesday, the highest institution of Sunni Islam also called on the international community to uphold the Palestinian people's right to remain on their land, establish an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital, and apply maximum pressure to ensure the ceasefire in Gaza between Hamas and Israel.

Al-Azhar further urged Arab and Muslim leaders to oppose displacement plans designed to liquidate the Palestinian cause by forcing Palestinians to abandon their homeland, which they have inhabited for thousands of years.

Egypt has firmly stated that it "will not participate in committing the injustice of displacing the Palestinian people."

Cairo also reaffirmed its strong opposition to any scheme aimed at liquidating the Palestinian cause through forced displacement, even temporarily, stressing that it "will not be a party to such a plan."

Al Azhar's statement warned the international community that failing to support the Palestinians would lead to global instability and a lawless world.

Furthermore, Al-Azhar called on religious institutions worldwide to wield their moral and spiritual influence to defend "the oppressed in Palestine." It also emphasized that the current events in Palestine set a dangerous precedent and threaten to drag humanity back to the ages of barbarism and lawlessness.
