The Union for African Journalists emphasized adhering to the ceasefire agreement as a crucial step for the reconstruction process, solidifying Palestinian presence on their land.
The Union also acknowledged the agreement as a mutually accepted approach to progress toward a resolution, enabling prisoner exchanges, facilitating reconstruction, and advancing political discussions.
The statement noted that recent Israeli remarks may heighten tensions and fail to offer a practical solution for the peaceful coexistence of the two states, as per United Nations resolutions.
Additionally, the statement conveyed the union’s appreciation for Egypt's diplomatic efforts to contain any negative impacts that could hinder the agreement's implementation.
Earlier today, an Egyptian source told Extra News TV that Egyptian-Qatari efforts have successfully salvaged the Gaza ceasefire.
The source stated that the efforts allowed temporary homes, tents, food supplies, and fuel to enter Gaza and that the exchange of prisoners and hostages will occur on Saturday, as planned.
Last week, US President Donald Trump sparked outrage by introducing a colonialist-style plan for the US to “take over” Gaza and transform it into the “Riviera of the Middle East.” This proposal involves displacing over two million Gazans to Jordan, Egypt, and other Arab nations.
Egypt and Jordan have voiced their rejection of the proposal.
Arab nations reiterated their opposition to any plan designed to displace Palestinians and liquidate the Palestinian cause.
According to Al-Arabiya TV, Egypt is expected to finalize a “comprehensive reconstruction plan” to rebuild Gaza without displacing its residents by next week, with its first phase set to launch after the emergency Arab summit, slated for 27 February.
Rebuilding Gaza and addressing the ongoing "humanitarian catastrophe" will require over $53 billion, with $20 billion needed within the first three years alone, reported the United Nations (UN) on Tuesday.
