The folkloric troupes affiliated with the Association of Upper Egypt for Education and Development (AUEED) are getting ready to tour six cities in France.

The tour will include eight performances in Lille, Lyon, Saint-Agrève, Saint-Médard-en-Jalles, Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez, and Compiègne.

The tour, scheduled between 3 and 22 March, will feature troupes such as the Minya Choir, Luxor’s Qitharet Tiba Choir, and a Tahtib troupe (a traditional Egyptian dance with sticks) comprising adult performers and over 20 children aged 11 to 13.

According to the information released by the AUEED, a body overseeing the troupes and their travel, the tour aims to showcase Egypt’s cultural and artistic heritage, which is rooted in multiple civilizations (Pharaonic, Coptic, Islamic). It also emphasizes children's rights and gender equality.

“Young people unite through music for a fair world,” states Partage, a France-based international solidarity organization, on their website.

The French solidarity organization and AUEED co-organized the tour, marking Partage’s 50th-anniversary celebration.

Since 2004, the two bodies have collaborated in education and health to benefit children in Upper Egypt.

AUEED, founded by Jesuit Father Henri Ayrout in 1940, is one of the oldest Egyptian organizations working to improve life in Upper Egypt.

Over the years, its activities have expanded to include various development programmes that benefit around 60,000 individuals across different governorates in Upper Egypt. These programmes encompass education, health, arts and culture development, skills development, and microfinance.

Partage helps disadvantaged children worldwide learn their fundamental rights and supports measures to ensure their education, treatment, feeding, and protection.
