Mamdouh Abbas, the chairman of the Kemet Boutros Ghali Foundation for Peace and Knowledge (KBG) and a faculty alumnus, spearheaded the initiative to honour Moussa's distinguished career.
The ceremony commenced with a documentary highlighting Moussa's political and diplomatic journey.
During the event, Hanan Mohamed Ali, the acting dean of FEPS, emphasized the faculty’s legacy of graduating influential people and its commitment to international partnerships and accreditation.
She thanked Abbas for his generous initiatives, including the new chair of Amr Moussa and two others he had previously founded at the faculty.
Furthermore, former FEPS dean and youth minister Ali El-Din Hilal recounted his professional collaborations alongside Moussa, illustrating the connection between academic theory and practical politics.
Prominent businessman Abbas also revealed the KBG's plan to establish additional chairs honouring other notable figures, such as Professor Ali El-Din Hilal, the first dean of the FEPS Zaki Shafei, and veteran diplomat Mostafa El-Feki.
Meanwhile, Moussa expressed his deep appreciation for the honour during his address, acknowledging the faculty's esteemed history and capacity to address critical issues in foreign policy and international relations.
Moussa served as Egypt’s foreign minister from 1991 to 2001 before becoming the Arab League's secretary-general for the next 10 years.
