According to a statement by the Egyptian presidency, this happened in a Cairo meeting after President El-Sisi received the Iraqi leader and his accompanying delegation on Tuesday.

During the meeting, they stressed the importance of fully implementing the three stages of the Gaza ceasefire agreement, facilitating the prisoner-detainee exchange, and ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid to the strip.

Moreover, both leaders emphasized the urgency of establishing a Palestinian state along the 4 June 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, as the only guarantee for achieving lasting peace in the region.

The meeting also discussed developments in broader regional issues, especially the situation in Syria. Both leaders affirmed the importance of preserving Syria's unity, territorial integrity, and sovereignty.

They asserted the need for an inclusive political process that engages all segments of Syrian society, leads to the adoption of a constitution and elections, and ends the occupation of Syrian territories.

Furthermore, they assured the importance of continuing efforts to restore stability and spare the region further turmoil.

For his part, President El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to supporting Iraq’s security, stability, and development efforts.

Al-Hakim also praised the strong historical ties between the two nations and Egypt’s vital efforts to achieve regional stability, expressing gratitude for the country's continued support across various sectors.
