The US Middle East envoy told an American Jewish Committee event that an Israeli delegation will travel in the coming days to Doha or Cairo to negotiate the next stage of the deal, Reuters said.

“We hope to put the second phase of negotiations on the right track and release the hostages," the US Middle East envoy said.

“Our partners in the region want stability and understand that continuing the war is unacceptable."

Egypt, Qatar, and the United States sealed an agreement in January after months of diplomacy to pause more than 15 months of the Israeli war on Gaza.

“(US) President (Donald) Trump will not accept old political recipes that have not worked in the Middle East again," Witkoff said.

“We need a better way to deal with Gaza, which has been rebuilt 3 or 4 times”, he added.

The US envoy said that “Hamas cannot be part of any governing structure in Gaza, and this is a red line for us and Israel."

Egypt is set to host an emergency Arab Summit on 4 March to discuss support for the Palestinian cause and plans for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.

Egypt, Jordan, all Palestinian factions, and Arab nations have rejected recent US/Israeli proposals for deportingthe Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, insisting on pushing the two state solution as the only just solution for the Palestinian cause.
