Egyptian Navy Commander Vice Admiral Ashraf Atwa met Wednesday with Italian Navy Commander Admiral Enrico Credendino and his delegation during their official visit to the Naval Command in Alexandria.

During the meeting, the Egyptian Naval Commander underscored the importance of coordinating efforts to achieve common interests between the Egyptian and Italian naval forces, contributing to regional maritime security and stability, read a statement by the Egyptian military spokesperson. Admiral Credendino echoed the sentiment and highlighted the strong partnership and bilateral cooperation between the naval forces of both countries.

The meeting covered several topics of mutual interest related to military cooperation, per the statement.

On the sidelines of the visit, the Italian naval commander inspected several Egyptian naval units to learn about the latest training, armament, and shipbuilding systems introduced to the Egyptian Navy.

Meanwhile, Vice Admiral Atwa visited the oldest vessel still in service with the Italian Navy warship, Amerigo Vespucci, known as the "most beautiful ship in the world," currently docked at the Port of Alexandria.
