During a phone call on Friday, President El-Sisi outlined to PM Starmer Egypt’s efforts to maintain the Gaza ceasefire deal, including prisoner exchanges, and deliver humanitarian aid to the strip.

The Egyptian president stressed that establishing a Palestinian state along the 4 June 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, is the only guarantee for achieving lasting peace in the Middle East.

Both sides also emphasized the urgent need to initiate the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip without the displacement of its native population as key to regional stability.

The call also underscored the depth of bilateral ties and both leaders' commitment to strengthening cooperation across all areas, particularly in trade and investment.

For his part, PM Starmer reaffirmed his appreciation for Cairo’s key role in the region, expressing his country’s commitment to continued coordination with Egypt on all regional issues of mutual interest.
