Ahly will face Talae El-Geish in the 17th matchday of the Egyptian Premier League on Wednesday, seeking to extend their unbeaten run and keep pressure on the league leaders.

The defending champions currently sit second in the table with 36 points, trailing Pyramids FC by three points, while Zamalek are positioned fourth with 29 points.

Talae El-Geish, meanwhile, occupy ninth place with 21 points, just one point above the competing on the relegation zone.

This season, the Egyptian Premier League has adopted a single-round format, with all 18 clubs competing for a place in the top nine to enter the title race, while the bottom teams strive to avoid relegation.

Ahly head coach Marcel Koller will be without several key players for the Cairo clash, including Tunisian left-back Ali Maaloul, midfielders Mohamed 'Afsha' Magdi and Taher Mohamed Taher, and defender Yasser Ibrahim.

On a positive note, right-back Omar Kamal returns to the squad after recovering from a muscle injury, and Moroccan winger Achraf Bencharki is expected to start, having scored in his first two matches against Zamalek and Haras El-Hodoud.
