Egypt FM discusses Gaza, Syria with Turkish counterpart in Jeddah

Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty discussed the latest developments in Gaza and Syria in a meeting on Friday with Turkey’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hakan Fidan, on the sidelines of the extraordinary meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Foreign Ministers meeting in Jeddah on Palestine.

FM Abdelatty briefed his Turkish counterpart on the outcomes of the extraordinary Arab Summit held in Cairo on Tuesday, including details of the Arab plan for the reconstruction in Gaza, which Egypt prepared.

Turkey announced its support for the plan on Wednesday.

On Saturday, the Turkish Foreign Minister reaffirmed his country's support for the resolutions of the Arab Summit on reconstructing Gaza.

The discussion also covered potential Arab-Islamic action within the OIC to promote the plan, build on the outcomes of the Arab Summit, and mobilize political and financial support for its implementation.

The meeting also included exchanging views on recent security and field developments in Syria.

The top diplomats reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the Syrian state, its national institutions, and its stability.

They emphasized the importance of combating all forms of violence and the need for an inclusive political transition that ensures the participation of all segments of Syrian society while safeguarding the rights of all communities in the country.

According to the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Abdelatty praised the tangible progress in Egyptian-Turkish relations across various fields.

He also highlighted the periodic exchange of high-level visits to strengthen cooperation and advance ties, particularly as both nations celebrate the centennial of their diplomatic relations.
