A joint statement following the meeting said the Arab foreign ministers presented the Gaza reconstruction plan, which was ratified during the Arab Summit in Cairo.
The statement added that the ministers agreed to continue consulting with Witkoff on the plan, which is deemed a basis for reconstruction efforts in Gaza.
Furthermore, the Arab ministers emphasized the importance of ensuring that the ceasefire in Gaza and the Palestinian territories holds. They stressed the need for genuine efforts to achieve a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution to fulfil the Palestinian people's aspirations for freedom and independence, the statement said.
Moreover, as the statement went on, the Arab ministers reiterated their commitment to enhancing de-escalation through dialogue. They vowed to work jointly to establish regional security, stability, and peace through intensified diplomatic efforts and coordination with various regional and international parties.
According to a statement by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty held separate talks in Doha with US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steven Witkoff and Middle East Coordinator at the US National Security Council Eric Trager, during which he reviewed the phases of the Arab plan and its details.
The statement said the two sides agreed to continue consultation on the plan as a foundation for reconstruction efforts. They also reaffirmed their commitment to ongoing communication as part of broader efforts to restore stability in the Middle East.
Witkoff, for his part, praised Egypt's efforts to promote peace and stability in the region.
An early statement from the Egyptian foreign ministry said that, acting on President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi's directives, Abdelatty met with his counterparts from Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Qatar, and the UAE.
The meeting, which was also attended by the Secretary-General of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), aimed to coordinate developments related to the Palestinian cause.
The discussions centred on enhancing Arab cooperation, reviewing the outcomes of last week's Extraordinary Arab Summit in Cairo, and assessing the Organization of Islamic Cooperation's (OIC) emergency meeting in Jeddah.
Additionally, the talks explored strategies to secure funding and promote the Arab-Islamic plan for early recovery and the reconstruction of Gaza.
These discussions occurred as Egypt prepared to host an international reconstruction conference in collaboration with the United Nations and the Palestinian government.
In February, US President Donald Trump proposed a controversial plan aiming to seize control of Gaza and forcibly displace Palestinians, sparking global backlash.
In response, the Cairo Summit endorsed an Egyptian-led initiative involving a three-stage framework for reconstruction—beginning with an early recovery phase and then two large-scale rebuilding phases—with a total budget of $53 billion.
The plan was backed by the OIC and several countries, including the UK, France, Italy, and Germany.
