Chinese mobile services provider Huawei held the Northern Africa Operations Transformation Forum (OTF) 2025 during the Mobile World Congress 2025, held in Barcelona from 3 to 6 March, to empower African digital transformation, the company said Thursday in a statement.

The forum, under the theme "Empowering African Digital Intelligence Transformation," brought together over 100 executives from governments, operators, and industry organizations across the region to discuss digital transformation in the light of the global artificial intelligence (AI) wave.

During the forum, Huawei introduced its Xcare 3.0 platform, which aims to foster the growth of intelligent operations.

Bruce Xun, president of Huawei's Global Technical Service Department, emphasized the importance of transforming new technologies into tangible business value.

He identified AI as a critical factor for success, advocating for human-AI collaboration and real-time data utilization.

Xun also highlighted the need for operators to transition from siloed to converged data systems, utilizing "digital twins" and high-quality datasets to create "telecom expert models" for improved decision-making.

"Digital transformation is essential for addressing critical challenges and unlocking benefits in the industry," President of Huawei Northern Africa Carrier Business Jim Liu said.

Moreover, he invited more stakeholders to join the Digital Intelligence Transformation Pioneer Club in this collaborative effort toward comprehensive digital intelligence.

According to Statista, the AI market grew beyond $184 billion in 2024, a considerable jump of nearly $50 billion compared to 2023. It expected this size to maintain its growth and surpass $826 billion in 2030.

Earlier this year, Egypt launched the second edition of its National AI Strategy (2025-2030). It sets main targets over the short and long terms with six key pillars: governance, technology, data, digital and AI infrastructure, ecosystem, and skills.

Strategy objectives

This strategy has three main objectives, as follows:

** Providing an inclusive AI vision to foster Digital Egypt, promote social and economic development, and benefit all Egyptians;

** Introducing a national foundational model to drive industry development and regional cooperation, making Egypt a leader in AI in Africa and the Arab region and an active international player;

** Creating an AI industry supported by governance, technology, data, infrastructure, ecosystem, and talents to ensure its sustainability and competitiveness for promoting Egypt’s development.
