Egypt’s FM discusses Gaza Reconstruction with UNDP regional assistant secretary general

Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Badr Abdelatty, discussed the Arab plan for Gaza’s reconstruction and the upcoming Cairo Ministerial Conference on Early Recovery and Reconstruction with Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations and Director of the UNDP Regional Bureau for Arab States Abdallah Al-Dardari on Saturday in Cairo.

According to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, Abdelatty expressed Egypt's eagerness for the UNDP's support in implementing the Arab reconstruction plan for Gaza, particularly during the early recovery phase.

He emphasized the importance of leveraging the programme's expertise to facilitate the rebuilding process.

The foreign minister also highlighted that Egypt expects the UNDP to play a crucial role in supporting the Cairo Ministerial Conference on Gaza's reconstruction, which will be organized in collaboration with the United Nations and the Palestinian government.

Furthermore, Abdelatty commended the UNDP's contributions to Egypt's development efforts and hoped to expand the partnership between Egypt and the UNDP.

He also underscored the need for the UNDP to increase its contributions to projects aimed at helping Egypt achieve the key elements of its sustainable development goals, including creating jobs, attracting foreign investments, and boosting productivity.

Moreover, Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's commitment to supporting the UN's efforts to promote sustainable development across the Arab region.
