Additionally, Ahly were handed a three-point deduction and fined as part of the penalty.
In a statement, the EPL announced it awaits the Egyptian Olympic Committee's ruling on Ahly's complaint regarding the derby's cancellation.
Earlier on Saturday, Ahly revealed they had lodged a formal complaint with the Egyptian Olympic Committee, protesting the cancellation of the Cairo derby due to officiating issues.
The high-stakes Egyptian Premier League derby between Ahly and Zamalek was dramatically called off on Tuesday after Ahly refused to participate, citing dissatisfaction with the officiating.
Ahly had previously threatened to withdraw from the league entirely if their requests for a postponement and the appointment of foreign referees were not met.
"We insist on respecting the Egyptian Pro League (EPL) decisions and reiterate our demand to play tonight's game with foreign officials. If our demands are not met, Ahly will not continue in the league," the club's board said in a statement before the game.
On the other hand, Zamalek confirmed their readiness to play the match as scheduled.
The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) defended its decision, stating that securing foreign officials on such short notice was impossible after rescheduling the match for 5 March.
On Saturday, the EPL officially revealed its decision.
The game carried significant weight in the title race as Ahly stayed second in the table with 39 points, trailing leaders Pyramids FC by three points. Zamalek, third placed, joined the race with 35 points.
