Egypt forward Mohamed Salah netted his third goal with Basel but it was not enough to give them a victory as they drew 1-1 with Lausanne Sports in the Swiss league on Saturday.
Salah needed two minutes to give Basel an early lead as he latched onto a deft through pass to poke home with aplomb. However, Lausanne secured a share of spoils via a 63rd-minute goal from Matt Moussilou.
The 20-year-old, who joined Basel from Egyptian side Arab Contractors in the close season, scored his maiden goal with Basel in their 2-0 win over Luasanne in the Swiss league last month and found the net again in Basel’s 6-1 drubbing of FC Amriswil in a Swiss Cup game earlier this month.
