Real Madrid will do without Ghana midfielder Michael Essien when they face Deportivo La Coruna in the 6th matchday of the Spanish La Liga on Sunday after a minor injury setback.
"Essien left Real Madrid preparatory trainings for the Deportivo La Coruna game as he worked in the gym," Read a statement on Real Madrid official website.
"Jose Mourinho took the session and had all first team players available with the exception of Essien, who used the indoor facilities." The statement added.
The Ghanian star will be available for the Champions League game in midweek as his injury is thought to be not serious.
Real Madrid agreed to sign the 29-year-old Ghana midfielder on loan from Chelsea for the rest of the season on transfer deadline day.
The 29-year-old, who won two Premier League titles, four FA Cups and one Champions League at Chelsea, joined Real Madrid on loan until the end of the ongoing season.
