Mubarak-era prime minister Ahmed Shafiq, who lost Egypt's first democratically-held presidential elections this summer to Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi, was referred to criminal court on Sunday along with ten aviation ministry officials to face charges of "profiteering and facilitating the [illegal] acquisition of state funds."
