According to the Egyptian presidency, both leaders discussed the latest regional developments during a phone call, particularly the ongoing escalation in the Gaza Strip.

They urged the international community to fulfil its responsibility in protecting the innocent people of Gaza from the brutal Israeli aggression, stressing their total rejection of any actions that would lead to the Palestinians’ displacement.

Additionally, both sides reiterated the importance of fully adhering to the decisions of the recent Extraordinary Arab Summit hosted in Cairo, notably the Arab plan for the early recovery and reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.

El-Sisi and King Hamad further emphasized that the establishment of the Palestinian state along the borders of 4 June 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, is the only guarantee for achieving lasting peace and stability in the region.

Earlier Tuesday, Israel launched a series of airstrikes on Gaza that have killed nearly 500 Palestinians and injured another 500, mostly women and children, marking the most violent breach of its fragile ceasefire agreement with Hamas.

Egypt has condemned the Israeli airstrikes as a blatant violation of the ceasefire deal, reiterating its firm rejection of all Israeli assaults on Gaza intended to reignite regional tensions and hinder de-escalation efforts.
