This came during a phone call between the two foreign ministers on Thursday.
During the call, they addressed ways to coordinate efforts to re-promote the Arab-Islamic plan for early recovery and reconstruction of Gaza and mobilize support.
A statement from the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said they also discussed coordination in preparation for the Cairo International Conference on the Reconstruction of Gaza.
Moreover, both ministers agreed on the need to maintain cooperation between their countries to contain escalating regional tensions and reach a political settlement that ensures long-term stability by establishing a Palestinian state as a final resolution.
Early on Tuesday, Israel's airstrikes pounded Gaza in what was described as a clear violation of the already fragile ceasefire agreement brokered by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States.
Since then, the death toll has risen to over 500 Palestinians, mostly women and children, with a similar number injured.
The initial phase of the ceasefire agreement, which took effect on 19 January and expired on 1 March, saw a temporary halt of Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza that began on 7 October 2023.
Since the end of the first phase, Hamas has been pushing toward moving on to the second phase. However, Israel has been trying to extend the first phase until mid-April.
Israel has conditioned this extension on the dismantling and full demilitarization of Hamas, yet it has provided no assurances for a lasting end to the war.
