According to Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abdelatty conveyed El-Sisi’s eagerness to welcome President Hassan to Cairo, aiming to elevate the distinguished bilateral relations between the two nations.

Earlier Wednesday, Abdelatty arrived in Tanzania, opening the Egyptian-Tanzanian Joint Business Forum and holding bilateral talks with his Tanzanian counterpart, Mahmoud Thabit Kombo.

A high-level delegation of Egyptian business representatives in infrastructure, construction, pharmaceuticals, logistics, agriculture, industry, food security, energy, fisheries, and livestock accompanied Abdelatty in his visit.

During the meeting, Abdelatty and the Tanzanian president discussed key mutual interests, focusing on water security and regional crises in Africa and the Middle East.

A key topic of discussion was the status of the Julius Nyerere Hydropower Plant and Dam, a major Tanzanian energy project being executed by an Egyptian consortium that is now 99.9 percent complete.

President Hassan hailed the project as a "great achievement," emphasizing that it was successfully implemented "by African hands" in cooperation with Egypt as a partner African nation.

Earlier Thursday, Abdelatty visited the dam and praised the project as a model for cooperation among Nile Basin nations.

The $2.9 billion Julius Nyerere Hydroelectric Power Project (JNHPP), launched in 2017 and under construction since 2019, is being built by the Egyptian state-owned Arab Contractors and the privately owned Elsewedy Electric.

It aims to address Tanzania's electricity shortage by supplying clean energy to over 60 million people.

Regarding water security, Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to supporting development initiatives in the Nile Basin, highlighting the principle of neighbourliness.

He further noted the launch of a new investment mechanism for water and development projects in the southern Nile Basin, with Egypt actively working to secure international donor funding for the initiative.

Egypt's top diplomat also underscored the growing interest of Egyptian investors in the Tanzanian market, stressing the importance of increasing trade exchange between the two countries.

He noted Egypt’s commitment to expanding investments in Tanzania and encouraging Egyptian companies to participate in major infrastructure and projects.
