Israeli airstrikes hit southern and eastern Lebanon on Thursday, with Lebanese state media reporting attacks in multiple areas despite a November ceasefire that ended an Israeli war against Lebanon and Hezbollah.

The Lebanese state-run National News Agency said "enemy aircraft" struck "the eastern slopes of the mountain range within the town of Janta in the Bekaa," as well as "the outskirts of the town of Taraya, west of Baalbek", also in the east. Four missiles were fired in the Nabatiyeh area of southern Lebanon, NNA said, adding that no casualties were immediately reported.

In an earlier statement, the Israeli military said it had struck an underground military site in Lebanon’s Bekaa region, as well as a site in southern Lebanon containing rocket launchers it claimed were linked to Hezbollah.

The November 27 truce largely halted more than a year of cross-border exchanges between Hezbollah and Israel, including two months of full-out Israel war against Lebanon and Hezbollah, during which Israel invaded Lebanon.

Despite the ceasefire, Israel has continued to carry out strikes on Lebanese territory since the truce agreement took effect.

Under the agreement, Israel was expected to withdraw from Lebanon by 18 February after missing a January deadline but has continued to occupy five locations it considers "strategic," violating the truce.

The ceasefire also required Hezbollah to pull back north of the Litani River, about 30 kilometers (20 miles) from the border, and to dismantle any remaining military infrastructure in the south.

Israel claims its presence must continue because the Lebanese army has not yet fully deployed to prevent Hezbollah from re-establishing itself in the area. The Lebanese army says it cannot deploy until Israeli forces withdraw.
