A statement issued by the Egyptian State Information Service (SIS) on Friday labelled these allegations as baseless and entirely false.
The SIS reiterated Egypt’s steadfast and principled stance, declared since the early days of the genocide against Gaza in October 2023, rejecting any attempt—whether forced or voluntary—to displace Palestinians from their homeland, particularly to Egypt. The statement emphasized that such a move would liquidate the Palestinian cause and pose a grave threat to Egypt’s national security.
The SIS concluded by reaffirming that Egypt’s clear and unwavering position constituted the foundation of its reconstruction plan, presented at the recent emergency Arab summit in Cairo. The plan, which was unanimously approved by the summit, ensures the rebuilding of Gaza without the displacement of a single Palestinian from the enclave.
Earlier Friday, Times of Israel published a widely spread report in English based on another report published in Lebanese Al-Akhbar news that claimed Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi informed other Arab leaders that he is willing to temporarily relocate half a million residents from Gaza to a designated city in north Sinai as part of the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.
President El-Sisi has openly and repeatedly opposed any displacement of the Palestinian people from Gaza to Sinai or Egypt under any pretext, reasserting that such a move would amount to a liquidation of the Palestinian cause.
