The Arab League has consistently been a cornerstone for fostering cooperation among Arab states across political, economic, social, and cultural spheres.

From its original seven founding members in the mid-1940s, the Arab League has grown to encompass 22 states — representing the entirety of the Arab regional system.

It has played a pivotal role in supporting the causes of the Arab nation and working to fulfil its people's aspirations.

According to a statement by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Egypt expressed its deep pride in its historic role in founding, supporting, and hosting the headquarters of the Arab League.

It also praised the Arab League’s efforts to safeguard Arab interests and enhance coordination among member states to address regional and international challenges.

On this occasion, Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul-Gheit emphasized the organization’s enduring role as a unifying voice for the Arab world over the past eight decades.

In his message marking the occasion, he affirmed that the Arab League has long been a steadfast bulwark in defending just causes—especially those that have enjoyed enduring and unanimous Arab consensus over the decades.

“Chief among these,he noted,is the Palestinian cause, which today faces its most serious challenge and gravest threat, one that seeks its liquidation and the undermining of its foundations.”

Aboul-Gheit stressed that the league’s presence represents extra strength for the Arab world, particularly in an era marked by the rise of global blocs and regional alliances.

Beyond its political and moral role, he also pointed to the urgent need to advance economic integration across the Arab region, where significant potential remains unrealized.
