According to Momen Osman, head of the Museums Sector at the Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA), following the incident, the SCA swiftly implemented precautionary measures, including cutting off electricity and water to the museum and temporarily closing it to visitors. Meanwhile, the Cairo governorate and relevant authorities have been working to pump out the water from the street.
Osman confirmed that the museum remains completely safe. The water is contained in the adjacent parking area and did not reach the museum’s interior.
The museum will reopen on Sunday, 23 March, and will resume welcoming visitors during regular operating hours.
