According to the Egyptian Presidency, during a meeting in Cairo attended by Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and General Intelligence Service head Hassan Rashad, President El-Sisi and FM Saleh addressed the Sudanese crisis and explored ways to restore peace and stability.
"The meeting addressed ways to protect the Red Sea and strengthen the efforts of the riparian states in its governance and security, rejecting the involvement of any non-riparian countries in this regard," read the presidential statement.
Both sides also discussed ways to strengthen regional stability in the Horn of Africa through Egyptian-Eritrean joint efforts or their coordination mechanism with Somalia.
Moreover, they emphasized their commitment to supporting Somalia in combatting terrorism and preserving its unity and territorial integrity.
Egypt, Eritrea, and Somalia engage in a trilateral coordination mechanism that began with its first ministerial meeting in Cairo last January.
For his part, the Eritrean FM conveyed President Isaias Afwerki's greetings to President El-Sisi, who, in turn, affirmed the deep ties between both countries, stressing Egypt's commitment to further strengthening these relations across all fields.
On Saturday, the Egyptian and Ertieran top diplomats held talks in Cairo, discussing several issues of mutual interest, particularly ways to strengthen peace and security in the Horn of Africa.
