"Following the sirens that sounded at 12:03 (1003 GMT) in the communities near the Gaza Strip, two projectiles were identified crossing into Israel from central Gaza Strip," the military said in a statement.

"One projectile was successfully intercepted by the IAF (air force) and a fallen projectile was identified in the area of Zimrat."

At least 830 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since Israel resumed its genocidal war on Gaza on 18 March, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry. At least 70 percent of the casualties were women and children.

According to the ministry's statement on Wednesday, the figure included 38 people killed in the past 24 hours. It also reported that the overall death toll had reached 50,183 since the war began on 7 October 2023.

Last week, Hamas fired rockets at Israeli commercial hub Tel Aviv in its first military response to Israel's resumption of war on Gaza.

"The (Ezzedine) Al-Qassam Brigades bombarded the city of Tel Aviv deep inside the occupied territories with a barrage of M90 rockets in response to the Zionist massacres against civilians," it said in a statement.

 Most devastating week

The UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has described the past week in Gaza as the most brutal since the start of the war 17 months ago.

"The resumption of war in Gaza has been catastrophic for civilians, and last week was the harshest yet," said UNRWA’s Director of Operations.

The UN agency added that more than 218 UNRWA staff members have been killed since the start of the conflict, while over 140,000 people have been displaced within the besieged Strip.
