During his speech to the nation on the occasion of Laylat Al-Qadr (Night of Power), the day Muslims believe the Quran was first revealed from Heaven, the Egyptian president affirmed Egypt’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause.

“We call on our partners and friends to intensify efforts to stop the bloodshed and restore peace and stability to the region,” President El-Sisi declared.

The Ministry of Religious Endowments organized the event at the City of Arts and Culture in the New Administrative Capital.

President El-Sisi once again commended the Egyptian people for their courage and resilience in facing the extraordinary challenges of the Middle East.

He also praised the people's unity and ability to "overcome anything," a quality that has earned them widespread admiration.

“Some believed that these difficult circumstances might have negative effects, but what happened was exactly what is expected from Egyptians. Your stance and resilience are greatly valued by Allah,” Sisi stressed.

“I have unwavering confidence that our unbreakable unity, deeply rooted resilience, and commitment to our eternal values and principles will be the key to overcoming all challenges and surpassing any obstacles in our path,” he added.

El-Sisi wished Sheikh Ahmed El-Tayyeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, who had missed the event due to a cold, a swift recovery.

Additionally, President El-Sisi expressed his deep appreciation for the Al-Azhar scholars and the Ministry of Endowments for their tireless efforts in promoting Islam’s authentic, tolerant teachings, correcting misconceptions, and enhancing Islam’s image as a faith that rejects all forms of extremism.

“God has designated this blessed night (Laylat al-Qadr) for the revelation of the Holy Quran, making it a framework for shaping, developing, and advancing society. The foundation of nations can only be realized through the cultivation and development of human beings,” El-Sisi stated.

He emphasized that Egypt prioritizes investing in human development, striving to cultivate an enlightened generation capable of navigating modern challenges and actively contributing to national progress, which aligns with the state's strategic vision.

He emphasized that the Holy Quran promotes ethical and humanitarian values, stressing that preserving Egypt's identity and reinforcing moral principles is a collective responsibility.

President El-Sisi noted that achieving this goal requires the cooperation of various institutions responsible for raising awareness, including families, schools, mosques, churches, and media outlets.

“We need an enlightened religious, educational, and media discourse that reinforces these values and builds a cohesive society capable of confronting negative behaviors with wisdom and resilience,” El-Sisi confirmed.

As part of the Laylat Al-Qadr celebration, President El-Sisi honoured the 31st International Quran Competition winners across various categories, including memorization, recitation, interpretation, and knowledge of the reasons for revelation.

He also recognized non-Arabic speakers who excelled in Quran memorization and recitation and individuals with special needs who demonstrated exceptional dedication to memorizing the Quran.

The event’s programme featured a speech by the Minister of Endowments, Osama Al-Azhari, who later presented President El-Sisi with a copy of the book "The Clear Truth in Responding to Those Who Manipulate Religion".
