French President Macron arrived in Cairo on Sunday evening to begin his official visit at President El-Sisi's invitation.

Macron's visit commenced with a tour of the Grand Egyptian Museum in Giza. He visited areas already open to the public ahead of the museum's official opening on 3 July.

After the walk, Macron expressed his appreciation to El-Sisi for the warm welcome, which, he said, demonstrates the strong friendship between Egypt and France.  "This fervor, these flags, this energy worthy of Khan El-Khalili: a vibrant tribute to the friendship that unites Egypt and France!" he wrote on his social media accounts.

On Monday, Macron is scheduled to attend a tripartite summit with President El-Sisi and King Abdullah II of Jordan to discuss the latest developments in Gaza.
