"The Magical World of Pottery Between Egypt and Italy" exhibition is held on the occasion of the Italian Design Day 2025, themed “Solidarity Against Inequality: Design for a Better Life”. The Italian Cultural Institute in Cairo collaborates with the Giudia Egypt Association in organizing the exhibition. The exhibition at the institute's gallery displays handcrafted clay artifacts, decorated in the style of these ancient arts, dating back to the Pre-Dynastic era of the fourth millennium BCE in ancient Egypt. These techniques are still practiced today in regions like Fayoum, the Dakhla Oasis, and the Old Cairo district, known as Al-Fustat, where the Traditional Arts Centre is located. During the exhibition, all stages of pottery manufacturing and design will also be highlighted. The techniques currently used in Italy will also be documented in workshops where similar pottery models are made. The artisans and artists chosen by the exhibition organizer, Samir Saleh, will reveal the secrets of their craft to the public through a temporary workshop for this occasion. Under the guidance of senior potters, the public will have the opportunity to experience pottery making firsthand (Sunday 13 April, 7pm).
